Nomex filter bags are recommended for industries operating at high temperatures, such as iron and steel smelting plants and asphalt plants. While polyester filter bags can operate at 150°C, Nomex (meta-aramid) filter bags can operate continuously at 200°C.

The material used in these filter bags, commonly known as Nomex in the industry, is meta-aramid. Developed by DuPont, this material is sold under the Nomex® brand. Nomex (meta-aramid) products are manufactured so that they do not melt or drip and do not ignite upon contact with air.

They offer moderate resistance to acids, alkalis and hydrolysis, and good resistance to solvents and oxidation. Their weight ranges from 400 to 500 g/m². Like other filter bags, they receive hydrophobic impregnation for water and oil repellency. Nomex filter bags are preferred in asphalt plants, ceramics and metal production, waste processing facilities, cement and lime plants, coal facilities, power plants and foundries.

Nomex Filter Bag Applications

Industries exposed to high temperatures, such as iron and steel smelting plants and asphalt plants, require heat-resistant filter bags to prevent hot dust and air from melting the bags. Meta-aramid Nomex filter bags, with a continuous operating temperature of 200°C and a short-term maximum temperature of 220°C, are recommended for these applications. Using polyester filter bags with lower heat resistance may cause the bags to melt inside the system.
